Preston based charity, Methodist Action (North West) Ltd, were delighted to welcome over 100 ladies to an evening of shopping, pampering and indulgence at their Ladies’ Evening on Friday 21st July at St Martin’s Parish Hall, Fulwood.
Ladies were able to grab a bargain, courtesy of the ‘Fashion Show and Sale Company’ who modelled a wide range of clothing with up to 75% off High Street names. Sarah Harris from ‘Colour Me Beautiful’ gave a very informative presentation about the importance of selecting the correct colour of clothing and make-up, then went on to demonstrate a number of creative ways to tie a scarf.
There really was something for everyone, with stalls provided by Stella and Dot, Ashleigh Jade’s Boutique and Neal’s Yard Remedies to name but a few. A Prosecco Bar was also available and luxury cakes were provided by ‘My Sweet Retreat’ of Southport.
CEO of Methodist Action, Stephen Hetherington, said, “We were absolutely overwhelmed with the response for this event, which raised £1000, selling out weeks in advance. It really is very reassuring that people are so keen to support our charity. Cuts by the local authorities in September 2017 mean that £190,000 support for the homeless accommodation in ‘Fox Street’, Preston will cease. Just because the funding isn’t available doesn’t mean that the need will disappear – and we intend to ensure that ‘Fox Street’ continues to meet the complex needs of homeless people in Preston and give them a future.”
Future events include a Wine Tasting Evening at Fulwood and Broughton Cricket Club on 29th September; a Sponsored Sleep Out on 21st October; a Singing for Fun Workshop and Grand Concert with Jeff Borradaile on 27th Jan ‘18 and a Spring Ball on 21st April ’18.
